Overview
Hartman’s zebra is well-adapted to rugged mountain terrains and has a distinct appearance with wider stripes compared to the Cape Mountain zebra.

Key Features:
Size: Stallions reach 1.5 meters at the shoulder, weighing up to 343 kg. Mares weigh around 276–298 kg.

Hooves: Grows rapidly to cope with rocky terrain.

Behaviour:
Diet: Grazers, typically following a zig-zag pattern while feeding along the terrain.

Breeding: Foals are born year-round, with a peak during the rainy season. Foals weigh about 25 kg at birth and have a high survival rate due to active herd defence.

Social Structure: Consists of breeding herds led by one stallion and bachelor groups. Mares have a social hierarchy within the herd.

Habitat:
Preferred Areas: Rugged mountain escarpments with permanent water sources and sufficient grazing.

Range: Found in the semi-arid regions of western Namibia and parts of Angola.

Population: Estimated at around 13,000 individuals.
