Done. Warthog (Phacochoerus africanus)

Warthog (Phacochoerus africanus)

Overview
The warthog is a medium-sized wild pig found in sub-Saharan Africa. Males weigh between 60 to 150 kg (130 to 330 lb) and measure 0.9 to 1.5 m (3.0 to 4.9 ft) in length, while females are slightly smaller and lighter.

Key Features:
Tusks: Two pairs of sharp tusks; the upper can grow up to 25.5 cm (10 in) and curve upwards, used for defence and combat.

Size: Shoulder height ranges from 63.5 to 85 cm (25 to 33.5 in).

Diet: Omnivorous, feeding on grasses, roots, and occasional small animals.

Social Structure: Live in groups called “sounders,” typically consisting of females and their young. Males leave these groups and form bachelor groups or live alone.

Behaviour: Known for marking their territory with facial glands, particularly males.

Fun Fact:
Warthogs have adapted to an interesting defence strategy—using their tusks to fend off predators, and they can even inflict severe wounds with their sharp lower tusks.

Conservation Status: Least Concern.

Found commonly in open savannas and grasslands, warthogs are easily recognized by their distinctive tusks and tough, bristly appearance.
